Michael Collins First Issue Thoughts
Welcome to the first issue of the Twentynine Palms Chamber of Commerce’s Newsletter as published by Hi-Desert Publishing and distributed through the Desert Trail. We hope you enjoy our new format and its content. Our newsletter's original intent was to outline important dates and information to our member’s local businesses. With this new format, however, we can not only reach our members but share the valuable information inside of our publication to those businesses and individuals that are not yet members and reach the local consumer, for which our businesses are here to help, by providing the goods and services that they require on a day-to-day basis.
The Chamber of Commerce is a collective voice of over 250 businesses and professionals, located in and around Twentynine Palms. We work to improve and promote an atmosphere that not only enables the community to grow and prosper but be an outstanding place to visit, live and conduct business.
We invite you to experience the flavor of this unique and prosperous community, in the heart of the Oasis of Murals….the headquarters to the Joshua Tree National Park, the home of the Marine Corps’ Largest Training Command, the place that my family and yours call Home.
The Chamber of Commerce is a volunteer-driven organization that improves and promotes an atmosphere that enables the community to grow and prosper. Compare Twentynine Palms today, to Twentynine Palms of 10 years ago. If you are new to the community either as a consumer or business, have you seen any changes? I certainly have. As a business owner for over 13 years that tracks and keeps up with technology, I am marveled at the parallel path that our city and technology have both taken.
Let me share with all that read these ramblings, some of the things that your Chamber of Commerce does for you, the member, the non-member and the consumer.
1. The Chamber receives hundreds of requests for names of businesses and establishments. Only Twentynine Palms Chamber members are referred. [medium break]
2. At Legislative Luncheons, members meet with their elected officials from all levels of government to keep members informed and to help their businesses be competitive.
3. The Chamber works to promote Twentynine Palms as a regional tourism destination, economically benefiting the entire community.
4. All Chamber functions provide the opportunity for you to meet others in the business community. Business Networking Environments, such as our Monthly Mixers and Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies for New Business are designed to help members network, not with just other members, but with their customers.
The Chamber works to accomplish its purpose by serving as the voice of the Twentynine Palms business community and representing our members in our local government. There will rarely be a City Council Meeting or Planning Commission Meeting that representative of your Chamber of Commerce do not attend.
The Chamber also works to help members be more profitable by offering a variety of programs to meet members' concerns and needs. Joining the Chamber is really an investment in your business's future with a return of continued growth and prosperity for Twentynine Palms.
Respectfully Submitted, [medium break]
