Terrorism feeds on fear and panic. We must all stand tall…. stand proud….and stand united against this treachery. We will shed tears over this national tragedy for decades…maybe even centuries. I pray that your family members are all safe and well, that your businesses will continue to prosper, and that your pride in our country and our community will be stronger than ever.
As we approach the days ahead, let us all pull together and support our country, our community, and each other during this most difficult time. Let’s not let these terrorist acts
against our country, beat down our local economy. There is no better time than now to preach “Shop Local”, to support our community organizations, to support our local fire department, and our local law enforcement agencies. We can sustain the pulse of our local economic health if we support each other and keep our dollars at home.
As you know, our Pioneer Days 2001 Theme is New Friends – New Frontiers. We extend this theme even further to include New Pride in America. Show your Pride Twentynine. We invite you to join our Communities Pride Celebration at the Concert Arena of the Miller Memorial Fairgrounds on Tuesday, October 9th at 5:30 P.M. Candles and matches will be provided to all in remembrance of those lost in the terrible events of September 11th. Prayer will be guided by our local ministries. Patriotic Songs led by Marne Kelly and accompanied by our local Marine Corps Band.
God bless us all,
Michael Collins
